Ada is the older one of our two Ridgebacks. At home she spends most of her time sleeping on couch on variety of strange sleeping positions. In the forest she turns out a whole different dog - a primitive hunter driven by pure instinct. She is also very concerned about the gardenings in Helsinki and wants to do her fair share solving the city rabbit problem in Helsinki.
Ada loves her family and also other people she knows. This overflowing love expresses sometimes even when training if she happens to see some familliar face smiling (doesn't have to be smiling though) to her.
Ada has become very privy to her territory and actively guards her home and car. She doesn't bark much except when guarding.
We've tried a bunch of activities with Ada, you can read more about our hobbies down below. Ada is a very sensitive dog which makes training with her extremely challenging. Sometimes it only took one gentle misfortune hit with a toy to stop her playing. It has taken some time to get to understand this little young lady.
This heartbreaker has totally charmed us, our reletives and our friends too. She's the supreme familydog with wonderful personality.
Ada loves running and especially chasing animals and other moving objects too! Cats, hares, squirrels, birds, plastic bags - you name, Ada chases it. I guess it ain't so hard to guess her favorite hobby - lure coursing.
At the end of last summer Ada got her license for track racing after three succesful test races. In Finland, oval track racing is not an official trial for ridgebacks, but we'll be racing in the unofficial ones.
Racing results
Ada hasn't been in shows often. Ada is a bit light boned and we've received ribbons variying from blue to pink.
As Myy achieves the age demanded in showrings, Ada might also join to test her charm on judges.
Ada's show results
Ada enjoys Agility, especially fast tracks where you can just let go full throttle. Younger, she used to entertain others with sudden "lap of honours", but we've almost over that - least I hope!
We train at Lohja once a week, but haven't competed yet.
First it seemed that all hope is lost when it comes to Ada and obedience, but during spring 2009 we've been making great strides.
Ada's mood - as other ridgeback owners might well know - varies a lot and we haven't yet found enough reliability to compete, but we sure will.
